Soybean Essentials Inc. is a small Alberta business selling handmade soy tealights and bath products online at soybeanessentials.ca and at local farmers' markets.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the shop:

  • Orders: your name, email, phone, shipping or delivery address, and what you bought. Card and PayPal details are handled by our payment processors; we never see or store your full card number.

  • Accounts and Reward Points: your login details, order history and points balance if you create a member account.

  • Email sign-ups and contests: your email address (and name, if given) when you join our list or enter a draw, online or at our market booth.

  • Affiliates: your name, contact details and payout information if you join our affiliate program.

  • Messages: anything you send us by email, phone, social media or our contact form.

  • Website use: basic technical data such as browser type, pages visited and general location, collected automatically through cookies.

How we use it

  • Process, ship and deliver your orders, and arrange local delivery or market pickup.

  • Send order confirmations and answer your questions.

  • Run your Reward Points account.

  • Run contests and draws and contact winners.

  • Track affiliate referrals and pay commissions.

  • Improve our website and products.

  • Send you news and offers, only if you've agreed to receive them.

We never sell or rent your personal information.

Emails from us

We send marketing emails (specials, new products, discounts) only to people who have signed up or agreed to receive them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time by emailing soybeanessentials@gmail.com. Unsubscribing won't stop emails about an order you've placed.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the services that help us run the shop, and only what they need:

  • Wix, which hosts our website, store, member accounts and email list.

  • Payment processors (such as Wix Payments and PayPal) to take payment securely.

  • Shipping carriers to deliver your order.

  • GoAffPro, which runs our affiliate program, if you're an affiliate or arrive through an affiliate link.

We may also share information if the law requires it. Some of these services may store data outside Canada, where it is protected by their own security measures and subject to local laws.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to keep your cart, keep you signed in, track affiliate referrals and understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, like checkout, may not work properly without them.

Keeping it safe

Your information is stored with our service providers, who use industry-standard security such as encrypted checkout. Paper entries collected at our market booth are kept secure and destroyed once the contest ends and entries are added to our list. We keep order records as long as needed for business and tax purposes, and other information only as long as we need it.

You can ask us at any time to:

  • See the personal information we hold about you.

  • Correct anything that's wrong.

  • Delete your information or close your account (we may need to keep order records for tax purposes).

  • Stop sending you marketing emails.
